This study analyzed participants¡¯ experiences as recipients of social support intervention that community members contact regularly neighbors who have mental health problems. Twelve people participated in semi-structured in-depth interviews about their daily social relationships, perceived social support, and experiences as recipients of programs. Two trained researchers extracted each theme separately and discussed them with thematic analysis. The analysis shows that participants have been socially isolated ever since losing their families on a specific stage of the life course. They still don¡¯t have interactive relationship and any kind of social support. Also, they are lacking self-esteem and self-efficacy. In this context, arranged social relationships somewhat helped participants to feel less lonely, but did not become reciprocal one. Their lack of self-esteem was a barrier to build an 'inter-active' relationship, and simultaneously recipient role of program lowered their self-esteem. It needs to be emphasized that social support is not naturally accompanied by social relationships, so careful consideration should be given to social support intervention planning and implementation in mental health promotion program. They need a ¡®supportive¡¯ relationship than just a relationship.
